The DEUTSCH DT range of connectors (developed by TE Connectivity) is the gold standard for cabling used in extreme conditions: commercial vehicles, construction machinery (Caterpillar OEM), agricultural machinery, heavy goods vehicles, marine applications and motor racing. Designed to ensure a high level of water resistance (IP68 and IP6K9K) as well as outstanding resistance to vibration, it goes a step beyond conventional automotive standards.

Design and locking mechanism
Unlike standard waterproof connectors with individual seals on each wire, the DT series uses a monolithic rear silicone grommet and a removable locking wedge:
- Thermoplastic housing (PA GF): High-strength material resistant to automotive fluids and UV light.
- Rear cable grommet and interface seal: Made from moulded silicone rubber. The wires are inserted directly through the rear cable grommet without the need for individual crimped seals.
- Locking wedges: Positioned at the front of the housing (e.g. W2P, W2S series), they provide secondary mechanical locking of the contacts and ensure perfect pin alignment.
- Primary locking mechanism: Mechanical snap-fit integrated directly into the housing.
